The 'do'

Again, I used Pebbles Inc Hip Hip Hooray collection (one of my current favorites!) I also used Pebbles sticker flowers, american crafts buttons, twine and embroidery floss.
This layout is of my daughter's recent haircut. It is a big 'taboo' subject in my house as my husband refuses to let her get her hair cut short! She has been growing her hair since she was a baby, only once getting it cut shorter (it's normally only allowed to be a trim!) - and boy did I get in ALOT of trouble for that one!!! Lol!
He finally gave in to all the pestering and let her get her hair cut shorter (it still had to be longer than the typical bob!) Well, when we went to the hairdressers they weren't busy, and so she got pampered! Receiving the full styling treatment! She loved it!

Boo

One of the sketches over on Boys Rule Scrapbook kits this month was:
I chose to use the fabulous Hip Hip Hooray collection from Pebbles Inc. I just love the colors in this collection. I also used the Pebbles flower stickers, twine, brads and American crafts thickers (which I painted to match the color combo). I then decided that the page looked a little plain, so I doodled around the edge, copying the pattern on the green paper.
I hope you like it :-)

The Cutting Cafe - Under the sea

This week's theme over on The Cutting Cafe was 'Under the Sea'. I loved the images so much I couldn't choose just one! So I decided to make a children's game of 'SNAP!'

I used the Under The Sea printable stamp set which contains 11 different images and comes with 18 sentiments - for only $5.25!!!! Great value!
I used a gift card holder for the tin, prismacolor pencils to color the images and then fussy cut some out to decorate.
Hope you like it! And don't forget to check out The Cutting Cafe blog for more great inspiration and tutorials, and make a comment on one of the post to be entered to win sets from the store!
Have a great week :-)

Update!

Just to let you all know - I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! Things have been mad busy here recently - I've spent days cleaning the house for my parents and sister coming over to visit from the UK (serves me right for spending too much time crafting!!), they are now here and I can't spend as much time as before completing layouts and the like.

I have got a lot of things scheduled to post during their time here, so I HAVE been creating, but I just can't show you at the moment!

I hope to get a bit of scrapping done this next week, so I should have a bit more to show you.

I will be back in full swing mid July.

Till then - have fun & Happy Scrapping :-)

MCM & Martha Stewart Punches

I was SO excited when Kristy  from Scrapbook Steals asked me to make the cards for this week’s MCM and even MORE excited when I saw what product she wanted me to use! Who doesn’t love Martha Stewart Edge Punches???!!! Scrapbook Steals have the best scrapbooking supplies in their online shop, with daily steals at 9am and 9pm MDT, and lots of inspiration, ideas and challenges on their blog.

I was given 2 double edge punches (I must admit to never having worked with these before – only the border and standard punches) and was told to ‘create’! They were so easy to use and I came up with endless possibilities following this week’s sketch:
The first card I made was using the daisy chain trim and the linked trim. I decided that the linked trim looked a little like a fence, so I paired it up with an image from The Paper Shelter (I must admit I didn’t color this one – when you purchase the digi from the shop you get both a colored and non-colored image – perfect when you are in a rush!) I added pink cardstock behind the punched border to make it stand out more and then highlighted the whole thing with green cardstock. I used the daisy chain trim both in the corner, and also cutting an individual flower to add to the twine. The papers are Echo Park’s ‘Victoria Gardens’ collection.

I then made a card using Simple Stories ‘Fabulous’ collection. I used the daisy chain trim for the border and then cut some more of the flowers from the border and ‘popped’ them up on foam dots.

Getting COMPLETELY carried away – I made 2 more cards! The first was using kraft and general cardstock, a variety of stamps and ‘bling’! I used the daisy chain trim with bling and cut out some of the individual flowers to highlight the stamped images.

And lastly, I love to make rosette flowers. I often use the border punches for a bit of variety and decided I would see how it came out using a double-edge punch. The answer – perfect! They are so easy to make and just adds a bit more dimension. I used basic colored cardstock, and by adding different widths of the brown over the border strip, you get a number of different effects.

The Martha Stewart punches are so versatile and easy to use, they make crafting a ‘piece of cake’! As you can see, they can used in a variety of ways, from making borders, making rosettes and flowers, using individual sections of the borders for embellishments, the list is endless. Just use your imagination and have fun!

Thank you so much Kristy and Scrapbook Steals for asking me to use these products – MS punches are definitely on my ‘wish list’ now!

The Cutting Cafe - sweet stuff

Another week at The Cutting Cafe and the theme was sweet stuff! I decided to make a tag box and tags.

I used:
Sweet stuff printable stamp set - all tag embellishments were printed out
and colored by hand using prismacolor pencils. All sentiments came
from this set too.
Sweet stuff cupcake card cutting file - both cupcakes were cut out using my cricut
Nesting box cutting file - for the tag box
Other -Bella Blvd 'Hello cupcake' papers and stickers, twine, pink stickles.

Hope you like it! I'll be back again next week with another great set. Don't forget to check out The Cutting Cafe blog for more inspirational projects and prizes!

Let's Get Sketchy #15

Week 15 on Let's Get Sketchy and another awesome sketch by Bev Code.
Here is my take on the sketch:

I flipped the sketch upside down, and kind of went off on a tangent with this one. Believe me - all of the elements are there - I just used the trees and clouds and grass to replace the buttons and circle on the sketch.
I used the Bella Blvd 'Finally Fall' collection and added the buttons and brads to the 'fussy cut' trees.
Hope to see you over on Let's Get Sketchy this week -
it was a fun sketch to work with :-)

I am also entering this layout into the Unique Crafters Challenge #4 - buttons.

I used:
Other - Echo Park 'Dot's and Stripes - Metropolitan' 6x6 paper pad

Hope you like it! I'll be back again next week with another great set. Don't forget to check out The Cutting Cafe blog for more inspirational projects and prizes!

Tired

June Sketch challenge over on Artful Delight was SO easy and great fun to complete! Here is the sketch:
I used Glitz Designs 'Happy travels' collection - a company I hadn't heard of before Rochelle set the brand challenge over on the Paper Secrets Blog.
I am also entering this layout into the pre-crop challenge over on Scrap-Friendzy - to use outdoor photos and make a handcrafted embellishment. I love this photo of my daughter camping - she doesn't sleep well in a tent (particularly when next to her dad snoring!) and it takes her a while to wake up in the morning at the best of times! I made the 3 flower embellishments on the LHS of the photo, by interlocking punched circles.

'Tween'

One of the current sketches over on Boy's Rule Scrapbook Kits is:
I loved working with this sketch! You should check it out: http://boysrulescrapbookkits.blogspot.com/2012/05/may-11-sketch.html - they are great for all of your 'boy' pages!
I combined it with the Simple Stories 'Awesome' collection to make a page for my son's recent birthday! It was his 'tweenie' birthday (age 12 - not quite a teenager!) and he chose to go to this LOVELY Italian restaurant (you can tell when they are growing up - no more McDonald's for him!)
Here is my layout:
I am entering this into one of the challenges over on Scrap-Friendzy - they are currently having a 'Camp-Friendzy' with lots of challenges, games and prizes that will run throughout the summer! This challenge was to cluster embellishments.
And also, the challenge over on Simple Stories blog - use their simple basics papers.

Last Day of School!

I still can't believe it is the last day of school today! That year has gone SO quickly! And so starts the 11 WEEKS of school holidays! Let's just hope we all get through it in one piece! My parents and sister are coming out to visit in a couple of weeks - can't wait to see them! My Dad has been sending my son a dilly countdown of the number of sleeps till they arrive - I don't know who is more excited!! :-)
So, with it being the last day of school today, I spent all of yesterday making the teacher's gifts and cards (why I always leave it till the last minute I have no idea!!!) Anyway, here are 2 of the gifts (the third will have to wait as it is for a Cutting Cafe post at the start of July).
For one of my daughter's teachers - the paper is Echo Park 'Country Drive', the pinwheels are from The cutting cafe file and the bag is filled with Hershey Kisses with sentiments from The cutting cafe on the bottom! I used this week's MCM sketch from ScrapbookSteals for the layout of the card.
My son's teacher gift - Mr Griffith is his advisory & reading teacher, AND his favorite! His teacher loves everything English - loves the accent and always asks my son if wants a 'cuppa'!! Deb bought me some English tea bags in this adorable typical London Telephone Box tin a few years ago - so I just had to get one the same :-) The card uses a KennyK image which I colored with Prismacolor pencils.

Grand Diva's birthday celebration - challenge #1

One of my online scrappy friends is having a month long Birthday celebration of challenges! This week it is to use this sketch:
Along with at least 75% of product from one or more of her favorite manufacturers - Echo Park, Basic Grey or My Minds Eye.
I chose to use the MME 'Miss Caroline - Dilly Dally' collection.
Please check out GrandDiva's Creative Corner and join in the fun!
See you over there :-)

I am also entering this layout into a challenge over on Frosted Designs - to use punches (I used the scalloped border punch and the butterfly punch), and also the Unique Crafters challenge blog whose challenge was to use buttons.

Camp-Friendzy!

Come on over to Camp-Friendzy for lots of fun challenges, games and prizes! It starts on June 11th, but there are some great pre-crop challenges going on right now!
Can't wait to see you there! :-)

The Cutting Cafe - pocket shaped card & sentiments

Another week at The Cutting Cafe and the theme was pocket shaped card and sentiments! I decided to make my Dad's Father's Day card - these files worked perfectly!

I used the Pocket Shaped Card Set to make the pockets, hearts and circle sentiment. The papers are My Minds Eye 'On the bright side' collection.

Another exciting announcement!!!!

So this has been REALLY difficult to keep to myself - but Phew! 1st June - I can now tell you! LOL! I have been asked to be a Design Team Member for Paper Secrets!! Woohoo! Yeh!
This was one of the very first sites I found when I started scrapping at the beginning of last year - and have loved it ever since! They have great challenges and awesome prizes - you early should go check it out! (http://papersecrets.friendhood.net/)

So it is time for my FIRST challenge post on the site. Here it is - Inspired By a quote.
I loved this quote when I saw it! Perfect for the theme, color combo, title/journalling - whatever inspires you. It comes from the photo card boutique blog and is free!!!
So I used the quote for my journalling along with the color combo. I also used a FANTASTIC sketch from Kristy Lee over at Scrapbook Steals - this week's MidWeekMojo sketch Turquoise #5
Of course I just HAD to rotate the sketch! :-) Here is my example:
I used Pink Paislee's 'Prairie Hill' collection (available at the Paper Secrets store)
Hope to see you over on the Paper Secrets site or even the Scrapbook Steals site! Why not combine your layout into 2 challenges??!!! You may win BOTH prizes!

Happy scrapping
Kerys :-)
