Cute Card Thursday - Can't stop the rain

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Can't stop the rain'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.  I used 6x6 papers from My Mind's Eye 'On the bright side' with a cutting file from the Silhouette store for my words and postage stamp background. I placed washi tape behind the words to highlight them in the colors of the rainbow. The cloud was cut from vellum onto  which I then dry embossed the pattern. Bakers twine was then threaded through along with colored brads, to simulate the rain and rainbow.

We are sponsored this week by Saturated Canary, a great prize as always!

I made another DT!!!!

I'm finally allowed to announce it!!!!!! I've made it onto another Design Team!!!

To be honest - this was the only one I have applied for recently, so I was AMAZED when I got an email from Debbie saying I had been picked!!!! The new team is for Artful Delights scrapbooking kit club - they really do have some awesome monthly kits - and with some eye candy from me and the other girls, we'll have you signing up for them in no time!!! LOL!

Check out their shop here and their blog here - I will be starting my projects next month and showing them both here and on their blog each week.

Until then - Happy Scrapping :-)

Being goofy!

I have scrapped these photos once before and wan't happy with the outcome - so  - I decided to do them again!!! This time I used a sketch from Sketches for all:

and paired this with one of my current favorite My Mind's Eye Collectable Collections 'Noteable':

I embossed the blue vellum on one layer, and cut out part of one of the title cards for the circular sentiment. I used a mixture of fonts for the title - the cork font was first cut out on the silhouette and then stuck onto the cork and then hand cut (I couldn't get the silhouette to cut the cork directly as it is adhesive backed!)

I have added a journalling card which I will journal on at a later date, and also hand stitched around the layers.

I am also entering this layout into:
Scrap your story - use cork on your layout
Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits - use a multi font title

New Design Team!

Some exciting news just came out of the blue today!!!! My good friend Deb has been running a card challenge blog for as long as I have known her (and longer than that!!), and had asked me to Guest Design for her on a number of occasions when needed.
So, I get an email today, asking me to join the group and become a FULL TIME designer!!!! Woohoo!!
Thanks Deb :-D

So you will now see me regularly making projects with a theme for an awesome site 'CUTE CARD THURSDAY' and I expect to see you all over there joining in!! LOL!!

I'm off to start on my theme for next week!

Happy scrapping :-)

Super simple birthday card!

I am desperately trying to get ahead on birthday cards this month - I have been seriously slacking lately!  And as all of our family live in the UK I have to be SUPER organized to get them in the mail on time! This is a card for my brother-in-law whose birthday is at the end of this month. I used this month's card sketch from Artful Delight:

And here is the card I made:

I used My Mind's Eye decorative tape in 3 different colors for the background. I then stamped the sentiment using black ink and then quickly applied translucent embossing powder. I heat embossed this to make it stand out a little more clearly.

I punched out the stars using my Martha Stewart punch and 'popped' them up for a bit more depth to the card. I then finished it off with some grey baker's twine.

I'm off to get this in the post now! Hopefully, this one should get there on time!

Happy scrapping :-)

Paper Secrets April 1st Challenge

This is the first challenge for April over on the Paper Secrets blog
Remember - there is a twist to the challenges!
Here is the sketch:

And the twist to this challenge is to use ribbon/trim!
For my layout, I used Echo Park's For the Record 2 Documented collection, with May Arts Twill stripe ribbon.

These papers and title work just perfectly for the photos! I used the stickers for the doily and title - and added some ribbon to the edge of the photo for a little more texture.

I used one of the stickers and then hand cut the different colored/patterned papers to make the banner. I 'popped' them all up and then lay the twine behind. The tab stickers were added for a little more interest.

The tag is from one of the 12x12 sheets, which I cut out and added ribbon to the bottom. Some twine and word stickers and voila!

I'd love to see you joining in the challenge for your chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Paper Secrets shop.
See you over on the Paper Secrets blog!

Happy scrapping :-)
