Cute Card Thursday - Pretty in Pink

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Pretty in Pink'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I chose to use this adorable clear stamp set from Whimsy Stamps - 'A Girl's Best Friend'. I used the cat image last month and couldn't resist coloring up this adorable dog for this week's card.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils, and fussy cut it out. I added some glossy accents to the dog's nose and center of the flower.
I also used one of the sentiments and heart from the set, and cut it into strips.

The papers are from Echo Park's 'Be Mine' 6x6 paper pad.

A super quick and easy card, with an adorable image as the main focus!

We are sponsored this week by Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, a great prize as always. I hope to see you joining in the challenge this month.

MFT Birthday Piñata

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick Blog again today showcasing this little beauty!
One of my favorite stamp companies in the Crafty Doodle Chick store is My Favorite Things. I love all of their stamps, dies and stencils, and the recent release is no exception.
I used MFT's Pure Innocence 'Birthday Piñata' stamp set for this card, along with the current MFT color combination challenge for inspiration.

I stamped the Birthday Piñata image onto some plain white cardstock, and also some yellow dotted paper from MFT's Party Patterns paper pack. I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils, and then paper pieced the dress and bandana. I did the same thing for the piñata image - paper piecing the pink dotted paper. The candy was stamped and colored with my prismacolor pencils.
These were all fussy cut out.

I decided to make this into a shaker card. The window was cut from the white cardstock using MFT's Rectangle Peek-a-Boo Window die, I used a matching rectangle shaker pouch, sequins from my stash, and then backed with paper from MFT's Party Patterns paper pack.

The branch for hanging the piñata was cut using MFT's solid birch tree die in lemon chiffon cardstock, adding some pink baker's twine to 'hang' the piñata.  I added a pink dotted border along the bottom, cut using MFT's Stitched Scallop Basic Edges die.

I then stamped the sentiment from the Birthday Piñata stamp set using MFT Extreme black ink.

You'll find these products in the Crafty Doodle Chick store:

Here is the current color challenge from MFT #91 that I used for inspiration:

I am also entering this card into MFT's Birthday Project challenge - shaker cards.

Cute Card Thursday - Shades of Pale

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Shades of Pale'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I used this adorable clear stamp set 'Bunny Balloons' - available at the Whimsy Stamps Store.

I loved this bunny stamp so much that I really wanted it to be the main focus of the card. I stamped the bunny image onto the white cardstock and then again onto post it tape to make a mask for the image.

I masked off the image and strips down the sides to give me a rectangular piece to ink. I used a cloud stencil from MFT along with Broken China distress oxide to create the cloud background.

I stamped the sentiment from the same Bunny Balloons stamp set across the bottom of the card. I then layered this onto a blue card base and added some bakers twine for a little interest down the left hand side of the card.

I love the effect of the black and white image with the inked background.

We are sponsored this week by Di's Digi Stamps, a great prize as always!

Hope you can join us!

Stamping Bella Gnome Pile

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick Blog again today showcasing this little beauty!
I am super happy that Crafty Doodle Chick decided to stock Stamping Bella stamps - these have been a favorite of mine for a while now.
I just LOVE the new gnome images - they seemed to be a little obsession of mine over the Christmas period last year! Not your typical garden gnomes - but more scandinavian in design.
I chose to use Stamping Bella's 'Gnome Pile' for my card.

I wanted to give you a little inspiration for the current RAINBOW challenge, which will end on Saturday 21 April 8pm EST. I have a sketch for you to try out too if you feel this would be an added inspiration.

This is a very simple sketch, which can be interpreted any way you like. I love to use sketches for inspiration, otherwise all my cards seem to look the same!!

I colored the gnomes using my prismacolor pencils, adding some extra details here and there with a white gel roll pen. I then fussy cut it out - although you can buy the coordinating dies.

I used grassy edges border dies from My Favorite Things to cut out the border from some green vellum and glitter cardstock - layering them together. As I glued the vellum on top of the glitter cardstock, you could see the glue through the front of the card. I added some green baker's twine to hide this.

I wanted the sentiment to fit to the side of the gnomes as in the sketch, so I cut the sentiment stamp in half and stacked them on top of each other. I then stamped the sentiment onto the white cardstock background using MFT Extreme Black ink.

I ended up getting some ink from my fingers on the top of the card - I am SO not good at keeping cards clean! To cover this up I used a stitched cloud die set from Whimsy Stamps. I cut the clouds out from white cardstock so the would blend into the background - on this occasion I didn't want to add blue distress ink for the sky. I like how subtle the card is without.

You'll find these products in the Crafty Doodle Chick store:

Whimsy Stamps Penguin Graduation

It is the start of a new challenge over on the Whimsy Inspires Challenge blog, with the theme as always 'Anything Goes'.
For more inspiration from the design team, and to enter the challenge, please check out the Challenge Blog.

My son is graduating this year and the 'Penguin Graduation' digital image from Crissy Armstrong at Whimsy Stamps was just perfect for making his graduation card!
The school colors are red and white - red for boys and white for girls - so my color combo was already set!

The digital image comes with a flower in the penguin's right hand. As this card was for my son I didn't want this, so I imported the file into my silhouette studio and then proceeded to 'subtract' the image I didn't want. You could always print it out as it comes, cut around the image (cutting off the flower) and then go over any lines left using a white pen. I colored the image with my primsmacolor pencils and used my ScanNCut to cut it out.
The sentiment is from the Whimsy Graduation Sentiment digital set, which I printed out and cut into a banner shape
I used the large stitched tag die from Whimsy Stamps (now retired), MFT's Congratulations Circle Frame and some red and white striped cardstock behind the image.
Some black & white bakers twine and a few enamel dots finished the card off perfectly!

I love this color combo.

Hope to see you joining in our challenge this month.

Thanks for looking.

Cute Card Thursday - Brads

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Brads'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

The clear stamp set I chose this week is from Whimsy Stamps new release and is called 'Hugs Bunny'. Lots of cute images and sentiments in this set.

I decided to do a plain and simple card with a couple of pops of color. I chose blue and green to mimic the sky and grass in a loose way!

I stamped the image and colored it in very simply using my prismacolor pencils - coordinating the green scarf with the grass. I used my ScanNCut to cut it out.

I used the Whimsy Stamps Shaker Maker Rectangle Die Set to cut out the blue frame and flipped the inside piece of paper over to reveal the coordinating pattern on the back. The colored papers are from Doodlebug's gingham-linen rainbow petite prints 6x6 paper pad.

I used the same paper to cut out the grassy border using MFT's Grassy Edges die-namic.

The colored cardstock was cut into strips and the edges rounded to place behind the main panel for extra color and interest on the card.

I stamped the sentiment from the same 'Hugs Bunny' stamp set and hand cut the banner shape. I added a simple brad and popped the sentiment strip up on pop dots.

We are sponsored this week by All Dressed Up Stamps, a great prize as always!
Hope you can join us! See you there!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #26 - Card Sets

The latest challenge #26 from Lawn Fawnatics is to make card sets.
I used one of my favorite stamp sets 'Sweet Friends' to make my set of cards. So many cute images with endless possibilities for matching cards.

I colored the images using my prismacolor pencils and used my Scan'n Cute to cut them out. I added some white details, glossy accents and wink of stella to some of the treats.

I decided to make the cards into a rainbow theme, allowing the images to pop on the bright colored backgrounds. I used colored card and patterned papers from my stash.

I used Lawn Fawn's 'Birthday Tags' stamp set to stamp the tag onto vellum with Versamark watermark ink and then carefully heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I did the same with the sentiments from the 'Sweet Friends' stamp set. I then used the coordinating 'Tag, You're It' die to cut them out.
I also cut out a matching colored tag to add behind the vellum, adding some matching baker's twine from my stash.

The background paper I kept simple and neutral for all of the cards, adding matching colored hearts stamped from the 'Sweet Friends' stamp set.

I love how this card set turned out! Here are some close up's of the cards:

This set also works perfectly for the current Crafty Doodle Chick Challenge - rainbows! Go check it out!

Honey Bee Stamps Challenge #3 - Rock it with Watercolor

The current Honey Bee Stamps challenge was to use watercolorstraditional watercolors, distress inks, watercolor markers, etc. I decided to use my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers with water for this project.

I stamped the border stamp from the Zen Floral stamp set using Versamark watermark ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I like using the embossing with my zig pens as it keeps the colors from running into each other so much.

I colored with my Zig brush markers and used a water brush to soften and blend it out. I then fussy cut the edge out.

I wanted to keep the rest of the card quite simple to highlight the border, and so I added it to a green card base and edged to with white dots.

I added the yellow background paper and used the Large Thanks stamp, again with Versamark watermark ink and white embossing powder. I realized that the sentiment got lost on the yellow back, so I used a pen to add in a shadow.

I finished the card off with some coordinating bakers twine and popped up another of the flowers from the Zen Floral stamp set.

I am adding this into the Honey Bee Stamps Facebook challenge #3.

Whimsy Stamps April Release & Cute Card Thursday

Welcome to Day 5 of April's release of clear & rubber stamps, dies and stencils at the Whimsy Stamps store

I just love these fairy stamps! This one is called 'Fairy Gifts for You'
I decided to show you how it can be used for a Christmas card as well as birthday cards for which it was intended.

I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and then colored it in using my prismacolor pencils. I added wink of stella to some of the presents and to the fairy wings.

I used Whimsy Stamps Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles die to cut out the panel.

I kept everything else on the card very simple, to allow the image to pop out and speak for itself.

The sentiment is from an old MFT stamp set.
