Cute Card Thursday - Too cool for school!

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Too cool for school!'
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.
I made this cute little thank you card for my daughters teacher at the end of the school year. Less than a week to go and 12 weeks summer holiday!!!!!
I used a digi stamp and sentiment from TiddlyInks which I colored in using my prismacolor pencils. The papers are scraps I had left  over, including recollections and DCWV. The cute little button is Doodlebug.

The front of the card also holds the cute little bookmark as a keepsake for her teacher. The sentiment is actually wrapped around to hold the bookmark in place.

We are sponsored this week by Digital Delights, a great prize as always!
Hope you can join us!

I am also entering this into the Pagemaps sketch/1-2-3-4 challenge:

Artful Delight - It's all about the heels!

So my final post for May as an Artful Delight designer!

Again, I used the May Scrapbook Kit - there are endless possibilities with this kit, I think I managed to use ALL of the papers, and embellishments I was given!

The title for this layout came directly from my daughter. She spent her Christmas money buying the dress and shoes specifically for her end of year Recorder Concert. She has been SO desperate to wear the high heels, it couldn't have come soon enough! The night really was 'all about the heels!' - although by the time she got home her feet were killing her!!!

I used lots of scraps of papers and sticker embellishments to add a little interest.

I used a great sketch and color combo from Pagemaps (which is also one of their current challenges):

I am also entering this into Scrap Your Story's mixed font title challenge.

Happy scrapping :-)

A trip to remember!

I actually had time this week to complete a layout JUST FOR FUN!!! Yay!!!
I found another great sketch on the Pagemaps blog:

I rotated and flipped this sketch, paired it up with Little Yellow Bicycle's 'Escape' collection and voila!!

These photo's are from our recent road trip down to Moab. Both kids got bored on the way down in the car and fell asleep on the dog! I just loved this phrase sticker - the kids missed SO many sights on the way down!

I made an embellishment cluster in the bottom corner using a number of the chipboard embellishments and twine. The twine just added the right amount of extra texture and interest.

I am entering this layout into 2 challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - Tie it up!

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Tie it up!'
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.
I used Imaginisce's 'Sole Sisters' collection for my projects. I used a cutting file from the Silhouette store for my gift box and interpreted the theme as tie-ing knots and bows.

We are sponsored this week by Pretty Little Ribbon Shop, a great prize as always!

Here is the second of the new card sketches from the Paper Secrets blog. There is no twist with these sketches - just use the sketch to inspire you!
Here is the sketch:

For my card, I used Echo Park's 'Homemade' collection kit and baker's twine.

Happy

So my next post for May as an Artful Delight designer!

Again, I used the May Scrapbook Kit - with a similar color scheme as last time - not what I planned at the outset!!!

If you didn't already know by now - I love to handstitch on layouts! I also added the 'journal' rub on to create my own journalling card, with a little pop of color for interest.

I used the mask, not for misting, but for doodling onto the plain card stock. I then stamped the sentiment from MME as a small 'tab'.

The banner and vellum stickers added a final touch of interest to the layout!

I used a great sketch from Pagemaps (which is also one of their current challenges):

Cute Card Thursday - Dancing Queen

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Dancing Queen'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.
I used 6x6 papers from My Mind's Eye 'Lost & Found' collections with the digital image from The Paper Shelter. This time I decided to use the pre-colored version of the image for ease! I doodled the sentiment with my trusty white uni-ball pen and used my Martha Stewart punch for the butterfly.

We are sponsored this week by Whimsy Stamps, a great prize as always!
Hope you can join us!

Other challenges I am entering this card into:
The Paper Girls challenge blog - their challenge was to doodle on your project.

Paper Secrets May 15th Challenge

This is the second challenge for May over on the Paper Secrets blog
Remember - there is a twist to the challenges!
Here is the sketch:

And the twist to this challenge is to use bling!
For my layout, I used 3 paper collections by 3 different manufacturers:
Simple Stories 'Summer Fresh', My Mind's Eye "Lime Twist' and Pebbles 'Let Freedom Ring'.

These papers and worked just perfectly for this sketch! I love the mix of colors in the mixed up banner. The buttons and stitching just finish the embellishment cluster off nicely.

I added little touches of stitching around the main base just to break the lines up a little. The 'smile' sentiment is a rub on.

The little touch of red bling just highlights the title a little more.

I'd love to see you joining in the challenge for your chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Paper Secrets shop.
See you over on the Paper Secrets blog!

I am also entering this layout into:
Scrap Our Stash challenge #3 - use 3 or more patterned papers from 3 or more different collections,
and use rub ons
SWAT drill #7 - tic tac toe (I used the left column: 3 buttons, stitching, 3 different manufacturers)

Happy scrapping :-)

Love you to pieces

So here is my second post for May as an Artful Delight designer!

Again, I used the May Scrapbook Kit - I went for a different color combination and scrapped my son this time!

I love sunburst paper from Heidi Swapp. I decided to add the hand stitching to highlight the sunburst pattern a little more. I also used one of the journal die cuts for a tab underneath the photo.

I used the washi tape and the border strip off the bottom of one of the paper sheets down the side of the layout, broken up with a little baker's twine. The elements on the left of the photo are vellum type stickers (the camera was first stuck onto plain white card before 'popping up' on the layout). The title is a number of rub ons from the kit.

I saw the perfect sketch for my sunburst paper - from an old favorite blog of mine - Let's Get Sketchy. Here is the May sketch #1 challenge from Brenshevia Baker:

Cute Card Thursday - Something Blue

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Something Blue'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.
I used 6x6 papers from Authentique's 'Original' collection. These were just perfect for my son's 13th birthday card. I can't believe he will be a teenager next week! I found this awesome image from Mo's Digital Pencil store - it looks just like my son who is constantly texting the girlfriend! I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils - beginning to really enjoy the coloring again! I added the speech bubbles and put my own 'text' into them to mimic his phone - HBDAY (obviously Happy Birthday) and HAGD (Have a great day). I also hand stitched around the layers and curled up the banners for added dimension.

(The dark colors are actually a dark blue!)

I have added a pocket for money inside - the only thing teenagers ever seem to want! And 2 more text messages - HAK (hugs and kisses) and YLM&F (your loving Mother & Father!!) I searched the internet for these messages - I SO can't do the short hand - we'll see if he can work them out!!! LOL!

We are sponsored this week by Whiff of Joy, a great prize as always!
Hope you can join us!

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:
Scrapbook Steals Monday Craft Madness #24 - add dimension
Papercrafts Connection Gallery Idol - birthday cards for a teens and kids
Mo Manning's challenge #184 - clean & simple (I think this qualifies??!!)

The Paper Secrets blog is starting something new - CARD SKETCH challenges! So you now have MORE challenges to play along with. There is no twist with these sketches - just use the sketch to inspire you!
Here is the sketch:

For my card, I used Echo Park's 'This & That Charming' 6x6 paper pad and chipboard embellishment.

I was planning on stitching around the outside - so punched all my holes, and then thought it looked good just like that!!! :-)

I'd love to see you joining in the challenge for your chance to be
Guest Card Designer on the Paper Secrets blog :-)
See you over there!

Artful Delight - Sketch challenge

I am both excited and nervous about this blog post! This is my first time as an Artful Delight designer!

I used the May sketch for my first layout:

Along with the awesome May Scrapbook Kit - so many goodies I didn't know where to start!

The recent photograph of my daughter worked perfectly with both the papers and sentiments.

I love this sentiment stamp in the kit - from My Mind's Eye Collectable 'Unforgettable' collection. I also added a little stitching for detail.

The pink camera was fussy cut from one of the 12x12 papers and 'popped' up, with a small banner underneath the photo for added interest.

I fussy cut the pink strip from another of the 12x12 sheets, used a rub-on for the title and a couple of tabs for details. I was going to stitch around the other blue strip, but once I had punched the holes, I quite liked the effect it made - so left it like that!!!!

I am also linking this layout to the May 1st challenge over on About a Girl - include the

Artful Delight May Kits

I am SO excited to begin a new adventure on the Scrapbook Design Team for Artful Delight. The first kit I have received is the May Scrapbook kit - and can I just say - it is pretty darn AWESOME! Here is a picture if what is in the scrapbook kit:

There is a mixture of Amy Tangerine's 'Yes Please' collection,  Heidi Swapp's 'Serendipity collection', coordinating Bazzill cardstock and coordinating Card Shoppe cardstock. There are SO many embellishments in this kit too! Including a stamp set from My Mind's Eye, a bottle of Mister Huey's mist, a Studio Calico stencil and Queen & Co trendy tape, to name just a few.

Head on over to the Artful Delights blog for more details and to pick up your very own kit - it is well worth it!

Also, while you are there, check out their card kit - lots of gorgeousness in that kit too!

I'll be back on Saturday with my first scrapbook layout reveal using this very kit!

Until then......happy scrapping :-)
