MFT Color Challenge #98

I am totally in love with my new Die-namics Cross-Stitch Bookmark! I have been loving the cross-stitch tag, making tags ready for sale at Christmas. Now I am making personalized bookmarks for friends gifts too!

The current color challenge was perfect for a little girl's bookmark, and having a name like 'Kerys' I know how difficult it is to find things with your name on it. So I made this bookmark for a little friend called 'Eliza'.

I used the printable resources on the MFT website to match my embroidery thread colors for the stitching.

I used MFT's 'Our story' stamp set for the wording at the top of the bookmark and also for the image on the back.

I used MFT's Lavender Fields and Wild Wisteria cardstock to mount the bookmark onto and add the details.

I will definitely be making more of these bookmarks for Christmas gifts.

Cute Card Thursday - Too Cute

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Too Cute'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

As always, the penguins from Crissy Armstrong at Whimsy Stamps are just too cute for words! So I just HAD to use a penguin for this theme! I chose to use a digital stamp from this month's release at Whimsy Stamps - Penguin Fishing.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils and fussy cut it out. As the fishing line was impossible to cut out, I used some embroidery floss and stitched the line in. I added some glossy accents to the red fishing hook and orange bobber.

I used the Whimsy Stamps Shaker Builder - Sweetest Birthday die set to cut out a frame in kraft cardstock and added the scalloped edge as a strip in the card.

I used the soon-to-be released (shhhh!) 'Cheeky Sentiments' clear stamp set for the sentiment. I stamped it using Versamark watermark ink and then heat embossed it with Ranger white embossing powder.

I then put the pieces together onto a standard A2 black card base.

We are sponsored this week by Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, a great prize as always. I hope to see you joining in the challenge this month.

Sometimes they just make coffee cups TOO small!

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today with a fun stamp from Penny Black!

Anyone who knows me, knows I just CANNOT function until I have had lots of coffee in the morning! This stamp was just perfect for me. This stamp is called 'Cup of Java' by Penny Black, and is currently available at the Crafty Doodle Chick store.

I stamped the image and used my prismacolor pencils to color it in. I used my Scan'n cut to cut it out.

I kept the background kind of random for a change! I used papers from Doodlebug's 'Cream & Sugar' paper pad along with some from my stash.

I used MFT's 'Stitched triple Peek-a-Boo Window and Edge die-namics to create the rounded border and circle from the coffee bean paper.

The sentiment is from the Penny Black 'Cup of Java' stamp set, and I made this into a banner, adding some bakers twine for added texture.

This was all created on a standard A2 white card base.

Without further ado, let me share another one of the projects I created with this amazing kit.

I decided I wanted to keep this card super simple, with no coloring!

I hand cut two different sized tags and stamped some of the flowers from the set onto them. I added some white ribbon and turquoise bakers twine to the tops of the tags.

I cut some of the glittery speciality turquoise cardstock from the kit to a
4" x 5 1/4" panel. I adhered the tags on to this.

I used some of the darker textured green/blue cardstock from the kit to stamp the sentiment. I used the soon-to-be released 'Cheeky Sentiments' stamp with Versamark watermark ink. I then heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder from the kit. I then hand cut this into a banner and popped it up on some pop dots.

This panel was then adhered to a standard A2 white card base.

Cute Card Thursday - Bugs/Butterflies

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Bugs/Butterflies'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I used this super cute stamp set from My Favorite Things - Meow Mix.

I wanted to keep this card super simple and monochromatic so actually DIDN'T color the images in! I love how they look against the grey and black.

I used this week's sketch from My Favorite Things #394 for inspiration.

I stamped the images and using the coordinating Meow Mix die-namics to cut them out.

I created the 'squares' background using MFT'sDouble Stitched Square STAX (now retired) to cut the holes. I then mounted this onto a piece of patterned grey cardstock from my stash. The images were then placed in and over the holes. I popped up the butterfly and the cat on pop dots.

The sentiment was stamped from the same set using Versamark watermark ink on black cardstock. I then heat embossed this with white embossing powder and cut it into a thin strip. I then placed this off-centre underneath the images.

We are sponsored this week by Di's Digi Stamps, a great prize as always!

Hope you can join us!

I am entering this card in MFT's Wednesday Sketch challenge #394.

Christmas in July

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today with a super cute Studio Katia stamp.

I love the Kobi bear images from Studio Katia and I decided to use 'Kobi bearing gifts' on this card. I wanted to show you that just because the stamp comes with a birthday theme, that it also makes an awesome Christmas card too! This stamp is currently available at the Crafty Doodle Chick store.

I stamped the image and used my prismacolor pencils to color them in. I used my Scan'n cut to cut it out.

I kept the background pretty simple, using a standard A2 size white card base.  I added two strips of patterned paper from My Mind's Eye 'Winter Wonderland' collection to the side of the card.

I stamped the large sentiment from My Favorite Things 'Hand Lettered Christmas' clear stamp set and popped Kobi bear up on foam dots. I added some green enamel dots and Christmas sticker to finish the card off.

Without further ado, let me share another one of the projects I created with this amazing kit.

This is definitely my favorite Paper Door kit so far! I love the modern floral theme of these stamps this month! The design possibilities are endless!

I used the flower stamps from the kit and stamped them on a white cardstock panel using VersaMark watermark ink. I then heat embossed them with white embossing powder that comes in the kit.

I used the mustard seed and spiced marmalade distress inks from the kit and blended over the white heat embossing. I used a kitchen towel to wipe any excess ink off the white heat embossing.

I cut a white cardstock panel measuring 3 3/4" x 5", and then added the ink blended panel half way down the panel, trimming off any excess cardstock. I used some of the copper glitter speciality cardstock that comes in the kit to add a strip of color to the top of the blended ink panel.

I used the new Whimsy Stamps 'Bold ABC' dies to cut out the word 'Hi' from the white cardstock. I then adhered this whole panel onto a piece of yellow cardstock from the kit - allowing the yellow to show through the word.

This panel was then adhered to a standard A2 white card base. Some enamel dots from Whimsy Stamps 'It's a Party' enamel dot set, and the card is finished!

Now, if you want to get your hands on this awesome kit, be sure to place your order by July 25th.  You don’t want to miss this one, I promise!

Without further ado, let me share another one of the projects I created with this amazing kit.

I love the modern floral theme of these stamps this month! The design possibilities are endless!

I did a very simple 'watercolor' wash on the back of the card panel using the colors from the kit (I mixed the yellow and blue for the 4th green color). I added some splashes of ink too!

Simple stamping of the flowers over the top once it was dry and a Whimsy Stamps sentiment from the 'You're My Favorite' clear stamp set.

Add this panel to a standard A2 white card base and voila! A super simple, quick and easy card.

Now, if you want to get your hands on this awesome kit, be sure to place your order by July 25th.  You don’t want to miss this one, I promise!

Cute Card Thursday - Ribbons/Bows

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Ribbons/Bows'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

The decided to use this adorable stamp from Whimsy Stamps new release this month - 'Sunshine' by Elizabeth Bell.

I stamped the image and colored it in using my prismacolor pencils. I then fussy cut her and the dog out.

I wanted the image to stand out from the rest of the card so used complimentary colors for the background. I started off by using Whimsy Stamps 'Card Builder Window' die set to cut the blue patterned panel from Echo Park's 'under the sea' paper pad. I love the added stitching in the corners that this die set creates.

I then cut out the white stitched frame from white cardstock using Whimsy Stamps 'Shaker Maker Rectangles' die set. I then backed this frame in yellow striped paper from the same Echo Park paper pad.

I used Whimsy Stamps 'Bold ABC' dies to cut out the letters for the words 'sun', 'sea' and '&'. I used Whimsy Stamps 'Simple Sentiments' clear stamp set (now retired) to stamp the word 'Smile!' onto a patterned paper stip. These were all glued onto the blue patterned panel.

I popped the 'Sunshine' girl up n pop dots and then adhered this all onto a standard A2 white card base.

We are sponsored this week by All Dressed Up Stamps, a great prize as always!
Hope you can join us! See you there!
