Cute Card Thursday - Magical

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Magical'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I just had to use the adorable 'Magical Dragons' stamp set from My Favorite Things

I stamped the images and colored them in with my prismacolor pencils and then cut them out with my Scan'n cut.

I made a pink cloudy background on a panel of white cardstock. I used MFT's 'Mini Cloud Edges' stencil with Worn Lipstick distress oxide. I used Blueprints #29 to cut out the banners from this background. I cut them down a little smaller than they die cut out.

I stamped the sentiment from the Magical Dragons stamp set in Versamark Watermark ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. The pink card was from my stash and was the same that I used for mounting the white panel on to. I used another die from the blueprints set to cut the sentiment into a banner.

The banner was popped up on foam dots along with the dragon to give him more emphasis. The princess was adhered directly onto the panel.

All of this was adhered to a standard white A2 card base.

We are sponsored this week by Oddball Stamps, a great prize as always. I hope to see you joining in the challenge this month.

I used the current My Favorite Things sketch challenge #400 for the design of this card. I will be entering my card into their challenge.

Life is Better....

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today with one of my favorite brands -  Lawn Fawn! I love this stamps set - Screen Time - perfect for a birthday card for my daughter from her brother!
This stamp set is available from the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I stamped all of the images and used copic markers to color them in. Anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a copic colorer! I much prefer my prismacolor pencils. But - I thought I would finally give it a try - so please excuse my first attempt at copic coloring!! I used my Brother Scan'n Cut to cut them all out.

I cut a 2" strip of patterned paper from Lawn Fawn's Really Rainbow Petite Paper pack and added it to the background of a standard A2 side folding white card base.

I die cut the scallop circle from vellum using Lawn Fawn's Outside In Stitched Scalloped Circle Stackables. I love this set and it gives the vellum piece a little more interest.

My son and daughter are beginning to spend a little more time together (when he is back from college!) and so this set was perfect. They love to play on the computer, watch tv/movies and eat junk food! All the things in this set! I added all of these directly to the card, popping some up on foam dots for added dimension. I stamped the controller cords using Black Stazon Ink onto the vellum - a great ink for non-porous surfaces.

I cut apart one of the sentiments from the set, as I didn't;t want the 'watch' word after binge. I wanted it to be about binging on everything together. I love how this turned out!

I was all adhered onto a standard A2 white side folding card base.

Whimsy Stamps & Glue Dots Blog Hop

Join us from August 27h through August 31st for a fun joint blog hop between Whimsy Stamps and Glue Dots.

Our teams will be sharing lots of beautiful projects featuring products from both of these companies. And we will have lots of prizes hidden along the hop as well as a grand prize valued at $100! To enter into the giveaways, you just need to comment on EACH blog throughout the hop. Then for the grand prize after you have commented on all stops along the hop, enter your name and email in the linky tool at the last stop. Winners will be randomly selected and announced on Monday, September 3rd. Good luck and have fun!

I used the adorable 'Penguin Spook Nite' stamp from Whimsy Stamps for my card. I stamped the image and colored it with my prismacolor pencils.

I cut a white panel of cardstock measuring 4" x 5.25". I 'partial' stamped Whimsy Stamps Lattice Background stamp using Versamark Watermark ink and then heat embossed it with Ranger white embossing powder. I blended spiced marmalade and mustard seed distress inks over the background, wiping it with a kitchen towel to remove any excess ink from the heat embossing.

I die cut a black frame using Whimsy Stamps Notched Rectangles die set. I used Glue Dots 'Glue Lines' to adhere the frame to the base panel. These were perfect for sticking down the frame as they were thin lines of glue.

I stamped the sentiment from the upcoming 'You're my Boo' stamp set (*SNEAK PEEK ALERT!!) - this will be released in September. I cut this into a banner shape. I also cut coordinating colored cardstock into banners. I used Glue Dots permanent glue squares to adhere the bottom 2 banners and the used Glue Dots pop-up dots to pop up the sentiment banner. I also used these to pop up the image.

I finished the card off with some enamel dots from Whimsy Stamps Summer Breeze collection, and adhered the whole panel to a standard A2 black crd base.

Here is the full Blog Hop list:

MFT Summer School - Visual Triangle

Another card for MFT's Summer School - this one is all about the Visual Triangle.

I seem to be on a Christmas card roll at the moment! I love this super cute 'You Make My Heart Melt' stamp set.

I stamped the images and colored them using my zig pens. I stamped the ice pond onto vellum using versa mark watermark ink and then carefully heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I then fussy cut them all out.

I used this week's sketch #399 for the design of the card.

I used blue cardstock from MFT Calm & Cozy Chevron 6x6 paper pack (now retired) for the strip down the left side of the card. This was adhered to a standard A2 white top folding card base.

I added the ice pond and images, popping the owls up on pop dots.

I cut a sentiment strip using Blueprints #29 and then stamped the sentiment using tumbled glass distress ink. I popped this up on foam dots to the edge of the card.

I finished the card off by stamped 3 snowflakes from the set with the same tumbled glass distress ink.

I love how this card turned out and love being challenged with the MFT Summer School!

MFT Summer School - Monochromatic

Another card for MFT's Summer School - this one is all about 'Monochromatic'.

I love the bears from the Friends Furever Stamp set and just HAD to use these on a card!

I stamped the bears and colored them using my prismacolor pencils.

I used the Radiating Halftone Background stamp with versa mark watermark ink on a light kraft background. I then heat embossed this with clear embossing powder.

I cut a window from the panel using the Square Peek-a-Boo window die-namic.

I stamped the sentiment from the Friends Furever stamp set onto some more light kraft cardstock using Vintage Sepia Versafine ink and then heat embossed this with clear embossing powder. I used Blueprints 29 to cut a variety of banners from plain cardstock and the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots 6x6 paper pack.

I popped the bears and sentiment strip up on foam dots and adhered this panel onto a standard kraft A2 card base.

I love how this card turned out and love being challenged with the MFT Summer School!

MFT Summer School - Rainbow

Another card for MFT's Summer School - this one is all about Rainbows.

One of my favorite Cover Up die-namics is the Bold stripes die-namic. It is perfect for a rainbow card!

I cut out the background from plain white cardstock and then added the rainbow color stripes using papers from the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots 6x6 paper pack.

I used the grey spotted paper from my stash, and stamped the sentiment from the Because You stamp set. I heat embossed this with clear embossing powder.

The 'because' word was cut from the die in the Because You set. I cut this out twice and stack them on top of each other. I added wink of stella for a little glittery touch.

I finished the card of by adding a stamped posit from the Pretty Posies stamp set (now retired), which I heat embossed with clear embossing powder. i fussy cut the flower out and popped it up on a foam dot.

I adhered this panel onto a standard A2 black card base.

I love how this card turned out and love being challenged with the MFT Summer School!

Cute Card Thursday - Just for Girls

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Just for Girls'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

It is my daughter's birthday soon and I thought this image from Mo Manning was just perfect for her! It looks just like her! This image is called 'Danielle with Laptop' from Mo's Digital Pencil.

I printed the image and colored it with my prismacolor pencils.
I used the Whimsy Stamps Card Builder Windows die set to cut out the white panel - I love the stitching it adds to the corners of the panel. I used the larger Card Builder Windows frame to cut out the grey spotted paper from Sunny Studios 'Polka-Dot' Parade 6x6 paper pad.

I stamped the sentiment using Lawn Fawn's 'Happy Happy Happy' stamp set. I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink pad and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I added some black and white baker's twine and a brad from my stash to finish the card off. This was then all adhered to a pink standard A2 card base.

We are sponsored this week by Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, a great prize as always. I hope to see you joining in the challenge this month.

MFT Summer School - Focal Point

Another card for MFT's Summer School - this one is all about 'Focal Point'.

Today we’re talking about the idea of a focal point; a way to concentrate the recipients interest on the main element of the design.

I used the adorable 'Snuggle Bunnies' stamp set.

I colored the images using my prismacolor pencils and then cut them out.

I copied the inking idea from the Summer School video - using the Stitched Dome STAX die-namic to create a mask. I used wilted violet and cracked pistachio distress oxides to match the colored images. I blended the colors together and added some water droplets for added interest. I then used the die-namic to emboss around the panel.

I used stamped the sentiment from the Snuggle Bunnies set and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then cut this sentiment into a banner strip. I popped this strip up on foam dots for added dimension.

I popped up the images on foam dots, overlapping them on the sentiment banner to ground them. I added some small hearts that were die cut using the stitched strip die-namic, from paper I inked using the wilted violet distress oxide to match.

I added some stitched to the edges of the panel and then adhered this panel onto a standard A2 grey card base.

I love how this card turned out and love being challenged with the MFT Summer School!

Smile!

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today with one of my favorite brands - aptly named My Favorite Things!
This die is available from the Crafty Doodle Chick Store.

I began by cutting a white panel of cardstock 3.75" x 5" and masked off the top and bottom with post it tape. I used Mermaid Lagoon, Broken China and Tumbled Glass distress inks to create an ombre effect, and added some drops of water for a little textured effect.

I removed the tape and used MFT's Smile die-namic to cut out a word window. I added some acetate behind this panel and used some blue and silver sequins to turn it into a shaker card. I added this to a blue cardstock panel measuring 4" x 5.25" using cardstock from my stash.

The sentiment was stamped using MFT's Anything-but-Basic Birthday Wishes stamp set and cut it out into a banner shape.

I was all adhered onto a standard A2 white side folding card base.
