MFT Sketch Challenge #373 & Color Challenge #88

Another great stamp set from January's release over at My Favorite Things -'Monster Sized'. I used the current sketch #373 and color challenge #88 to inspire this card. I love how it has turned out!

I stamped the images from the Monster Sized stamp set and colored them with my prismacolor pencils to match the colors from color challenge #86.

I cut out a window in the front of the card using one of the Stitched Tag-corner square STAX dies from MFT - I love this shape! I used the matching Summer Splash striped paper from MFT Party Patterns 6x6 paper pad to add behind the cut out.

I added the monsters partly in front and behind the cut out to make it look like they were jumping out.

The sentiment was stamped using the Monster Sized stamp set, in Versamark watermark ink and then heat embossed using Zing white embossing powder.

I am entering this card into MFT's Sketch challenge #373

Cute Card Thursday - Cute Critters

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Cute Critters'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I chose to use this adorable image from Whimsy Stamps clear stamp set - Baby Animals.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils, and used the coordinating Baby Animals die set to cut it out.
The sentiment was stamped from the same Baby Animals clear stamp set, with the BABY wording from the coordinating die set.
I created the background using the new brick pattern stencil and Versamark Watermark ink pad. I added clear embossing powder and then heat embossed it. I love this look - a slightly darker color of the main cardstock.
I finished the card off with some yellow cardstock, bakers twine and enamel dots from my stash.

We are sponsored this week by Kinda Cute by Patricia Alvarez, a great prize as always. I hope to see you joining in the challenge this month.

Mother's Day Card #1

One of my favorite brands of products at the Crafty Doodle Chick Store are My Favorite Things (appropriate name right?!).
I have been overloading on Jennifer McGuire YouTube videos recently, and saw this design. I thought it would work perfectly for one of my Mother's Day cards. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG9aDNbL5qM&index=1&list=LLDCdCObFrGr7iL39h0UMmaA
(Just to confuse me, Mother's Day in the UK is March 11th - always earlier than the US and something I always have to be organized for!)

I started off by adding a heat embossed background design to the pink cardstock from my stash. I used the dots from MFT's Chill Wishes stamp set. I stamped these using Versamark watermark ink and then heat embossed it with transparent embossing powder. I love the tone-on-tone look that you get by doing this.

I then die cut MFT's Mesmerizing Mandala die-namic from white cardstock and adhered this onto the pink background. I cut a strip off the left hand side of the pink cardstock, cutting around the mandala die cut so that you would still end up with the pink behind the die cut. I then added a thin strip of white down the left to add a little more interest (also copying the video!!)

I stamped the sentiment from MFT's Anything-but-Basic Birthday Wishes stamp set using Versafine onyx black ink. I used this ink so that it would still be a little wet afterwards, and then heat embossed it with transparent embossing powder to git it a little shine. I then die cut the banner using MFT Blueprints #27.

The heart was die cut from MFT Blueprints #27 using the same cardstock as the rest of the card. I added some wink of stella to the top to give it some glitter. The banner and heart were popped up on foam dots.

MFT Olympics Event #3 - Crafty Biathlon

Event #3 of the MFT 2018 Creative Olympics - Crafty Biathlon!

The Crafty Biathlon tests your ability to adapt to obstacles and excel in multiple challenges simultaneously. Below you’ll find two columns – one representing a technique and the other, a type of card. Your challenge is to select one option from each column and combine into one fabulous card!

I chose to do an emboss resist technique on a shaker card.

I started off by stamping the Roses all Over background stamp onto white cardstock with Versamark watermark ink. I then heat embossed this with white embossing powder. I used MFT Ripe Raspberry Hybrid Ink over the top of the embossing, and then used kitchen towel to wipe the excess off the embossing.

I cut out the shaker window using Rectangle Peek-a-Boo Window die, which works perfectly with the Rectangle Shaker Pouches. The shaker elements were from my stash.

I adhered this onto some Razzle Berry cardstock.

The elephant image and balloon were stamped from the Adorable Elephants stamp set and colored with prismacolor pencils.

I used the new Anything But Basic Birthday Wishes stamp set for the sentiment, along with MFT's Ripe Raspberry hybrid ink. I then used transparent embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment. I used banner dies from Blueprints set #27 & Blueprints set #29. Some bling finished the card off!

MFT Olympics Event #2 & Sketch Challenge #372

Event #2 of the MFT 2018 Creative Olympics - Freestyle!
Create one card in any style with one exception -  it has to have a winter theme!

I am so in love with the Cross-Stitch Tag die-namic that I have been stitching for weeks now! I already had this snowflake stitched up and ready to go (thank you MFT for the pattern).

I added some MFT Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot patterned paper to the top of the tag to match and then highlighted it with a white strip and white ribbon. I used this for the basis of my card.

These two Bitty Bears stamps just worked perfectly on this winter themed card to add a little fun - colored with zig brush clean color markers.

I used a sentiment from the Merry Christmoose stamp set (now retired).

I was inspired by this week's MFT sketch challenge #372 for the design of the card.

MFT Olympics Event #4 & the Birthday Project

So this has GOT to be one of the most stressful things I have done in a long time!! Event #4 of the MFT 2018 Creative Olympics was Speed Cardmaking!!!

We had 20 minutes to create a card. Easy I thought - until I realized I should probably have done without images and saved myself the time of coloring!!!
Anyhow, I copied a card a had made a few months back for another design team which made it a little easier.

I love the MFT Blueprint die-namics. They make designing and putting together a card so much easier! I used Die-namics Blueprint #27 & Die-namics Blueprint #29 for this card.

The hardest part for me was choosing the papers and color combo! I knew I wanted to use the new Birthday Chicks stamp set, and I love the yellow/grey color combo. A little pop of red just brightened the card up too. I colored the images with my prismacolor pencils.

The papers are from MFT Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots 6x6 paper pad and Country Flair Plaid 6x6 paper pad. The chicks hats and balloon are paper pieced, and then popped up on some foam dots. The sentiment is stamped from the same Birthday Chicks stamp set.

Cute Card Thursday - One Word Sentiment

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'One Word Sentiment'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I love this cute image from Marina Fedotova - 'Flower Fairy' - available at the Whimsy Stamps Store.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils and then fussy cut it out.
I used Versamark Watermark ink with the Whimsy Stamps Curly Flourish Stencil on the pink cardstock, and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder.
The sentiment set (now retired), papers and bakers twine are from my stash.
I finished off the card by popping up the flower fairy on foam dots.

We are sponsored this week by Di's Digi Stamps, a great prize as always!

Hope you can join us!

It is the start of a new challenge over on the Whimsy Inspires Challenge blog, with the theme as always 'Anything Goes'.

MFT - The Birthday Project challenge - Celebrate Good Times

This month's Birthday Project challenge uses the word 'Celebrate' as it's main focus - Celebrate Good Times.
I think this card turned out super cute!

I used the new Birthday Chicks stamp set and actually cut up one of the sentiments!! This is something I never do, but I just wanted to repeatedly stamp the word 'celebrate' from the sentence 'Let's Celebrate YOU'. I used MFT's Cornflour hybrid ink to do some generation stamping on the card base.

I used Blueprints #27 dies for the basis of the card, along with the Bundle of Baby Clothes die-namics. I used papers from MFT's Hearts and Stripes, and Country Flair Plaid 6x6 paper pads for the baby clothes.

The sentiment was stamped using the Welcome Baby stamp set and Versamark's Watermark ink. It was then heat embossed using white Zing! opaque embossing powder.

LOVE how this card worked out - I will definitely be making more for baby girls.
