A new month = new challenges at SS!

Now we are into December, there are new challenges over on the ScrapbbokSteals blog.

Monday Craft Madness - you have all month to complete as many of the MCM challenges as you wish. You will be entered each time you link up your projects, for a chance to win a $20 Gift Code for the Scrapbook Steals online shop!
Monday Craft Madness #3 - use embossing powders
Here are my examples:

I was given green, red and white embossing powders – so, of course, I had to go with a festive theme! These powders worked great for jazzing up Christmas gifts for my daughter’s teacher.
I started off thinking about a gift. I have seen altered candle holders on Pinterest and really wanted to give this a try. I used a Versamark watermark stamp pad and simple snowflake stamps. Then I sprinkled on the embossing powder, used my heat embossing tool, and voila!
Next I needed something to put the gift in! I found an old box, painted the edges in green metallic paint, and then set to work with the decorating. I love to use embossing powders with background stamps, so the top of the box is decorated with a heat embossed background stamp and the embossed sentiment stamp. I used a dry embossing folder for the plain cardstock pieces around the sides of the box, which I then went over with my stamp pad and embossing powder. I then heat embossed it all. A very simple, yet effective decoration.
Of course, with every gift you need a gift tag! Something else I spotted on Pinterest was using one stamped image and carefully ‘painting’ with the powders. Basically, you carefully place each color where you want it on the image and then heat emboss it all together. I must say, this was very fiddly but fun!
Lastly, I needed a card to finish off the set. I used the embossing powders on a stocking stamp, cut them out, and then ‘popped’ them up! I also embossed the sentiment. Such a simple, yet effective, card made in under 10 minutes!
I love these embossing powders! I think the 48g pot I have of each color is going to last me a life time! Looking at it, you wouldn’t even know I had used it!

We are also starting a new Mid Week Mojo series - there are 10 sketches in each series. Each week (on a wednesday) a new sketch is posted on the ScrapbookSteals blog - you have until the following Monday 11:59pm MST to link up your entry, for a chance to win some scrappy goodies. If you complete all 10 sketches you are entered to win a grand prize!
This week's Mid Week Mojo - Jade #1 sketches were from Guest Designer Jessica Arrant.

You have 2 sketches to choose from! You have until the Monday 10th December 11:59pm MST to enter for the weekly challenge - or you can make you layout at a later date for entry into the grand prize (completing all 10 Jade sketches)

I also got a chance to play with some Lifestyle Crafts box dies on the How To'sday post. Here is what I made - super simple to make with SO many possibilities!

Hope to see you over on the ScrapbookSteals blog - there's lots of inspiration and great challenges!
Happy scrapping :-)

  1. Why am I such a dork? I got so excited when I read my name. Like I'd won something or something. Did you see the tags I made with my embossing powders? I need to go make sure I linked it up...
