Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Anything Goes'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I used this adorable image from this month's Clear & Rubber stamp release over at the Whimsy Stamps store - 'Teddy Birthday Hat' by Lee Holland.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils and fussy cut it out.
I made the yellow background using Whimsy Stamps 'Bold Statements' clear stamp set for the sentiment, and added some dots and lines using a thin black pen for a little more interest.
The wavy line on the striped paper was cut using Whimsy Stamps 'Pierced Border Trio Dies'.
I added some tags using Whimsy Stamps 'Stitched Tag Dies' and a little baker's twine, along with using the 'Honeycomb Pattern Die' in green papers.
The papers I used were Echo Park's 'Let's Be Mermaids' 6x6 paper pad, which I thought worked perfectly for a birthday card too!

Whimsy Stamps - Top O'The Mornin' Snowman

Don't forget about this month's freebie image from Whimsy Stamps - Crissy Armstrong's 'Top O' The Mornin' Snowman'. This adorable image is only free until the end of July, when it will go back in the vault until it is re-released in September as a regular $3 image. Go grab it while you can!!!!

I used my prismacolor pencils to color the image and then fussy cut it out.

I used the 'In My Backyard' clear stamp set for the snowflakes and sentiment. The snowflakes were stamped in versa mark's watermark ink and then heat embossed with fine white embossing powder so they would 'stand out' on the dark red paper. For the sentiment, I didn't want it in a long line and so I cut it in half and placed the words n top of each other. That way, the sentiment fit perfectly when cutting it out using the 'Stitched Tag Die' set.
I added some vellum paper which I hand pierced and stitched around the edge, and added some snow hills using the 'Pierced Border Trio die set'.
Some bakers twine to attach the tags finished the card off.

Don't forget to go grab the freebie!

Whimsy Stamps July Rubber & Clear Stamp Release Day 3

Here's another super cute image from July's release of Clear & Rubber Stamps at the Whimsy Stamps store!

I used 'Mister Mummy' by Krista Heij-Barber. We don't send Halloween cards, so I decided to use the image to make a super cute mini goodie bag.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils and fussy cut it out.
I used a small gift bag from Michaels and added some black & white striped paper for the background. I cut out a simple banner to break up the background and add a little more color. I used 'Summer Breeze' enamel dots and halloween twine from Recollections to finish the bag off!

Whimsy Stamps July Clear & Rubber Stamp Release Day 3

Welcome to July's release of Clear & Rubber Stamps at the Whimsy Stamps store!

I used this super cute image from Lee Holland called 'Teddy Birthday Messages'.
I wanted to keep this card quite simple to highlight the image.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils.
The background papers are from Doodlebug's 'dot-grid-daisy-stripe rainbow petite prints' 6x6 paper pads.
I added a little bakers twine to the card to give it a little more interest and brought in the yellow color with some Whimsy Stamps 'Summer Breeze' enamel dots too.

Whimsy Stamps July Clear & Rubber Stamp release Day 2

Welcome to July's release of Clear & Rubber Stamps at the Whimsy Stamps store!

I used more cute penguins from Crissy Armstrong.
This one is 'Penguin Pumpkin Patch'.

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils and then fussy cut it out.
The back ground papers are a mixture from my stash.
On the blue background paper I drew on some wonky stitching using a white gel pen, and then cut out a large banner from the striped paper for a little more color and interest.
I used the Whimsy Stamps Shaker Builder - Sweetest Birthday Die Set for the brown frame in the background.
I used the Whimsy Stamps Card Builder - Many Thanks Die Set for the thanks sentiment, banner and small yellow hearts.
I 'popped' these all up on using pop dots.
I assed a little bakers twine to the card to give it a little more balance.

Cute Card Thursday - Summer Colors

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Summer Colors'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I didn't use an image this week, but instead used colored chip cards from the local hardware store for my background.

I used the smallest of the Whimsy Stamps 'Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles' to die cut each of the colored swatches and them stuck them up and down randomly on the card for the background. The white background is cut out using the largest of the nested rectangles.
I then used the Whimsy Stamps 'Word Die Set - Sympathy Heartfelt & Condolences' to show you how this set doesn't just have to be used for sympathy cards! I cut out the large word 3 times and glued them on top of each other for a little dimension.
I used Whimsy Stamps 'Scripty Occasions' clear stamp set for the sentiment. The actual stamp says 'Many Thanks' but I didn't want all. The trick to just stamping part of the image is to use washi tape to cover the part of the sentiment you don't want (in this case 'Many'), ink up your stamp and then remove the tape before stamping. Voila! You have only stamped the part of the sentiment you want.
I die cut the hearts from Whimsy Stamps 'Baby Animals Die Set' and added a little baker's twine to add a little color to the top of the card.

Whimsy Stamps July Clear and Rubber Stamp Release

Welcome to July's release of Clear & Rubber Stamps at the Whimsy Stamps store!

I used this adorable stamp from Whimsy Stamps - 'Baby Giraffe' by Sylvia Zet.

Could it be any cuter??

I colored the image using my prismacolor pencils.
I stamped the sentiment using the 'Baby Animals' clear stamp set.
The papers are from My Mind's Eye's 'The Sweetest Thing Bluebell' collection.
I used a border die from my stash to cut out the scalloped border and added a little cheesecloth behind the image panel for a little texture and dimension.

MFT Sketch #341

So - my daughter chose a birthday card for one of her friends out of my box of cards. She loved the Adorable Elephants stamp and shaker element to the card. Her friend is also big into pink!

She decided that she needed a matching gift bag to go with the card! I decided to use this week's sketch #341 as the inspiration for the design - it worked perfectly.

Here is my finished gift bag:

I used the 'Adorable Elephants' stamp set for the image and sentiment - coloring the image using my prismacolor pencils and fussy cut it out.
I used the 'Stitched Scallop Basic Edges' die-namic for the edge of the pink cardstock. The shaker window was made using 2 of the 'Double Stitched Square STAX' dies.
The 'Birthday Balloons' die-namics were used for the balloons.
The papers are from Doodlebug's 'kraft in color - color' 6x6 paper pad, and others in my stash..
A few enamel dots and some ribbon then finished the gift bag off!

Cute Card Thursday - Ribbons/Bows

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Ribbons/Bows'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

The image I chose this month from All Dressed Up Stamps is 'My Baby Shower'.

I decided I wanted to paper piece the clothing on the washing line, along with bird. I printed the image out onto the patterned paper - 'Perfectly Plaid Winter' by Lawn Fawn - and then fussy cut them out.
I also printed the same image out onto white cardstock and colored the teddy bear using my prismacolor pencils.
I used My Favorite Things 'Stitched Scallop Basic Edges' die for the white cardstock edging.
The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps 'Baby Animals' clear stamp set. I used black ink white I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Flip Flop cards using Whimsy Stamps Metal Dies

So it's my turn to post on the Whimsy Stamps blog, and I thought I would do a quick tutorial on how to make 'flip flop' cards using any metal shape dies you have at hand.

I used the 'Hand Stitched Nested Rectangle' die for my flip flop card. My card is 5" x 5 1/2".
I folded the card and used washing tape to secure my die into the middle of the front of the card.

The key to making flip flop cards is to NOT cut out the whole of the die. You only need to cut out half of the die. To do this, position your card so that the piece you don't want to cut is hanging off the edge of the cutting plates. You only need to cut the half of the die NEAREST the fold of your card.

Once it has been cut it should look like the photo underneath. It took me many mistakes to get this right!!

You then need to fold the card back on itself as below. Now it's time to decorate!

I used a number of stamps and dies from Whimsy Stamps for my finished card.

I used the Hand Stitched Nested Rectangle die to cut out another kraft rectangle to fit over the 'flap' - just because I wanted to make it a little more sturdy (this is not necessary - just my personal preference).
I then cut out the 'Cherry Blossom Panel' which fit perfectly on the front panel.
The flower is made using the 'Build a Poinsettia Die' - who says this flower is just for Christmas??
The sentiment is from the 'Scripty Occasions' stamp set.
I added some 'Christmas Cheer' enamel dots to finish off the flower and add a little interest to the rest of the card.

I hope these instructions make sense!!
And remember - you can use any of your shaped die's to make the 'flip flop' card!
