Cute Card Thursday - Recycle Something

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Recycle Something'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

I used the adorable 'Candy' digital image from Whimsy Stamps.

I printed out the image and colored it with my prismacolor pencils. I then used a circle die cut to cut her out. I die cut a red scallop circle from my cardstock stash and added some white gel pen faux stitching.

For my 'Recycle Something' I used brown lunch sacks to make a simple mini album. I used papers from Doodlebug's 'Here comes Santa Claus' 6x6 paper pack - and love how the candy cane paper worked with the image. Some green cardstock for a little break in the red/white color and then some candy cane ribbon finished the album off!

We are sponsored this week by Oddball Stamps, a great prize as always. I hope to see you joining in the challenge this month.

Thanks for looking!

Christmas Woodland Critter Hugger Gift Cards

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today using a this adorable Woodland Critter Hugger die set from Lawn Fawn. I had SO much fun with these dies and love how adorable all the critters turned out!

I used Lawn Fawn's Woodland Critter Huggers, Woodland Critter Huggers Winter Add-on and the Stitched Gift Card Pocket for all of these gift cards.

I turned the critter huggers into a card by die cutting the main body from a folded piece of matching cardstock, ensuring the die sat just over the top of the card, so allowing the card to open.

I attached the gift card pocket inside and stamped the sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Tiny Tag Sayings stamp set.

Thanks for looking and don't forget to check out the Crafty Doodle Chick blog for lots of inspiration from the rest of the design team

I am adding these cards to the current Lawnfawnatics Challenge #41 - Shaped Cards.

MFT Sketch #412

I'm finally getting back into the swing of making some cards using challenges for inspiration! I loved this current sketch #412 from My Favorite Things:

I decided to rotate the sketch 90 degrees clockwise to make my winter scene work.

I printed out the Heather Ellis digital MFT image and colored it with my prismacolor pencils. I then fussy cut it out.

I die cut some trees using the winter trees die-namic and used the stitched snow drifts die-namic to create the snow hills from glitter cardstock.

I cut out a panel from white cardstock using the dotted rectangle die from Blueprints #21 (now retired) and stamped some snowflakes from the Cool Day stamp set (now retired). I used versa mark watermark ink and then added some glamour dust on top.

I stamped the sentiment from the same Cool Day stamp set onto some red cardstock from my stash. I used versa mark watermark ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I used the banner die from Blueprints #28 to cut out the banner.

I added all of the elements (popping a few up on foam dots) to a standard A2 white card base.

Love Ya A Latte

I'm up on the Crafty Doodle Chick blog today using a Fall/Winter themed stamp set to create a more love/heartfelt card. I used Lawn Fawn's Thanks a Latte stamp set for this project.

I stamped the image onto Sunny Studio's Classic Gingham cardstock and then fussy cut it out. I die cut a Lawn Fawn heart from the grey gingham paper and added glossy accents on top. I die cut the cream topping for the latte from glitter cardstock using Lawn Fawn's Woodland Critter Huggers Winter Add-on dies.

I used textured paste with Newton's Nook's Tumbling Hearts stencil and washed over it in a ombre effect with watercolors once dry. I layered this over half of the card.

I die cut 2 circles and a couple of tags and stacked these onto the card with some bakers twine.

I die cut the word 'love' using a Lawn Fawn die and stacked these for dimension, adding some glossy accents too. The sentiment is from the Thanks a Latte stamp set and die cut with a banner die from MFT. All finished off with some heart shape sprinkles from Doodlebug.

Thanks for looking and don't forget to check out the Crafty Doodle Chick blog for lots of inspiration from the rest of the design team

For this card, I just had to use some of the pink glittery paper in the kit!! I chose the snowmen for my main focus on the card!

I stamped the snowman from the Glitter Globe stamp set 3 time and colored them in using my prismacolor pencils. I then cut them out using the coordinating die in the kit.

I used the snowflake stamp from the Glitter Globe kit and stamped directly onto the vellum using white Stazon ink. The vellum was also included in the kit. I then stamped the sentiment onto the vellum using Whimsy Stamps Bundled Up stamp set and Nocturne (black) VersaFine CLAIR ink. This ink really didn't want to dry so I decided to try heat embossing it with clear embossing powder. I did it very slowly, moving the heat gun away from the vellum regularly so as not to burn or warp the vellum. This worked but unfortunately the sentiment didn't end up as crisp as i would have liked - still looks good though! I cut the vellum piece out using Whimsy Stamps Card Builder Windows die set which leaves a lovely double stitched border around the piece.

I then cut out some of the white shiny specialty cardstock using Whimsy Stamps  Stitched Border Die Trio to make the snow hill.

All of these pieces were then adhered onto a piece of pink glittery paper from the kit and then onto a standard A2 white card base.

Now, if you want to get your hands on this awesome kit, be sure to place your order.  You don’t want to miss this one, I promise!

For this card, I stamp the snowflakes from the Glitter Globe stamp set using versamark watermark ink and then heat embossed them with ranger white embossing powder. I then spritzed them all over using the bottle of Fireworks Shimmery spray from the kit. This worked min the same way as distress inks, allowing the heat embossed snowflakes to show through. A little wipe with a dry cloth and they stood out nicely from the shimmery background. I set this aside to dry completely.

I then stamped the penguin from the Glitter Globe stamp set. Everyone who knows me knows that penguins are my favorite! I used my prismacolor pencils to color him in and then used the coordinating dies from the kit to cut him out.

I cut out the white 'snow' panel from white cardstock using Whimsy Stamps Envelope Edger dies set, which creates an adorable stitched and scalloped edge. I stamped he sentiment using Whimsy Stamps Bundled Up stamp set and VersaFine CLAIR Paradise and Glamorous ink pads.

I adhered this onto the shimmery background and popped the penguin up on foam dots. This panel was then adhered to a blue glittery paper from the kit and then onto a standard A2 white card base.

Now, if you want to get your hands on this awesome kit, be sure to place your order.  You don’t want to miss this one, I promise!

Whimsy Stamps Kinetic die release!

Interactive cards are all the rage right now and Whimsy Stamps have come out with some dies of their own. Here are a couple of cards I made using the new release...

I started by printing out and coloring the new Whimsy Stamps 'Iggy' digital image with my prismacolor pencils. I separated the penguin from the image and enlarged it.
I used the Whimsy Stamps polkas dot stencil and some tumbled glass distress ink to create a snow effect for the background.
I used Whimsy Stamps Stitched Border Trio dies to create the snow hills and stamped the sentiment using the snow flurry stamp set and VersaFine CLAIR Glamorous ink pad.
I used the No See Kinetics Basics set of dies to make this penguin move - super cute if I say so myself!!

The next card I made I wanted to have snowflakes falling! I needed to hide the mechanism behind a tree so I used the Kinetics Straight Basics die set along with the No See All Seasons Tree die set.

I started by printing out and coloring the new Whimsy Stamps 'Snowy' digital image with my prismacolor pencils.
I used distress inks and fine glitter for the background panel, and then stamped the snowflakes from the Glitter Globe Paper Door kit in VersaFine CLAIR Morning Mist ink.
I wanted a number of snowflakes to fall all over the card but I didn't a piece of card showing, so I used acetate instead. I attached four pieces of acetate for the snowflakes - one in each of the holes in the die.
The sentiment is from the Snow Flurry stamp set, stamped with VersaFine CLAIR Paradise ink.
I love how this card turned out!

I hope you all try out these kinetic dies - interactive cards are SO much fun!

Cute Card Thursday - Stars

Our theme at Cute Card Thursday this week is 'Stars'.
As always, we welcome your own interpretation.

As the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah is coming up, I decided to use the star theme to make some Hanukkah cards with the Star of David.

I made to cards with the same design but some different products.

The first card I made is more traditional and focuses on the Menorah.

I used Lawn Fawn's 'Love you a Latke' stamp set to stamp out the menorah and sentiment using Versamark Watermark Ink. I then heat embossed this with gold embossing powder.
I used a soft blender brush to add some blue ink in a diagonal across the card and wiped any excess from the gold embossing. I then used a variety of blue distress inks to stamps the stars on the background, and a gold sharpie to add some dots. This was then mounted onto a dark blue panel and then onto a standard A2 white card base.

The second card is a more whimsical take on the menorah. I used the digital stamp set from Whimsy Stamps 'Happy Hanukkah'

I printed out the candles and sentiment onto white cardstock. I then cut down the panel and used a versa mark watermark pen to color in the flames in the candles. I then heat embossed them with gold embossing powder. I used Lawn Fawn's 'Love you a Latke' stamp set to add the stars around the panel. I stamped the other sentiment using the Lawn Fawn' stamp set onto blue cardstock from my stash and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I cut it onto a banner and popped it up on foam dots. This was then mounted onto a dark blue panel and then onto a standard A2 white card base.

Two quick and simple Hanukkah cards.

We are sponsored this week by Di's Digi Stamps, a great prize as always!
